Solange + Kaytranada - Cranes in The Sky

Soul jams

I couldn't help it and i can't deny how good it sounds. this is just an edit to play on my dj sets, and i played it once and everybody wanted it right away. Honestly i was gonna wait to see if Solange or her team or whoever works for her wouldve ask me to do an offical remix so if they still want to, i could make it sound better than that version but ohhhhh, what the hell.... anyways i highly recommend you that new Solange album "A Seat At The Table".

Mad

"Got a lot to be mad about... got a lot to be a man about"

Godspeed

Wishing you Godspeed... glory... there will be mountains you won't move.

It's gonna take a little work...

That song you post that you hope that certain someone hears, but you're not really sure. Life sucks sometimes. That's why we have music.

Valentine

Throwing it back today in excitement for Sampha's upcoming show(s) in Brooklyn later this month!

The Important of Blocking + I really miss Robin Williams

Blocking is so unbelievably important. It's something I think people overlook dramatically, but good block helps actors pull off fantastic performances. There are infinite ways to tell a story, its these decisions that help a viewer feel a performance.

This video from Every Frame a Painting (which if you haven't checked out this channel... stop what you're doing now and watch all of the videos), while a few years old, addresses the importance of blocking through the wonderful performances of the late Robin Williams. I miss this man so much. What an inspiration.

JONES - Melt

I love this direction. Simple ideas are always the greatest. Even better when they're pulled off flawlessly.

Addressing divorce

I am the product of divorce. It sucks. But it's ok. I wouldn't be the type of person I would be today without my wonderful parents. That being said... it has always bothered me that the reality of divorce is never fully experienced on the screen. Bravo to Ikea for allowing us to feel ok with it.

Long Term Parking

Boy this one hits hard doesn't it? You feel really sad for these people, yet you're optimistic because they're making the most of their situations. I really applaud that. When you're going through difficult times it's easy to wallow in self-pity. It takes a lot of guts and courage to look on the bright side of things when it all seems so dark and lonely.

The wonderful world of College Football

College Football is awesome, but it's also insanely fucked up. It's essentially the only league in the world that runs so similarly to a professional sports league, yet cannot pay it's players due to academic scholarships. I could go on for days about the ethics of all of that, but that might be what makes College Football even more intriguing to me. It adds a whole other layer of depth to it's disposition. I always love a good story, and College Football consistently brings fascinating ethical and moral discussions to the table.

Here's a perfect story about players taking out insurance policies, just in case they have a career ending injury. I've noticed this becoming a much more popular tactic now amongst those who are on the cusp of going pro, but still have a year or two left in college.

Let's have a beer and talk college football. You don't even have to be a sports fan to be interested in the inside-out way things are run.

JUST DO IT FRANK!

After having a conversation about Frank Ocean last night, about how he's been withholding his album, why the delay, his lack of public exposure, etc.... Frank decides to surprise everyone with a completely random "livestrem" (not confirmed if it was filmed beforehand or stream live) video of what is seemingly Frank Ocean doing some carpentry. You know, like cutting wood. For hours. What does it all mean? I have no idea. My sister Mallory told me this morning that I've got to mash up that Shia LaBeouf "DO IT" video and Frank cutting wood. So I did just that. This is literally exactly how I feel about this new album. JUST MAKE IT HAPPEN ALREADY!

Hideaway

Man... sometimes a song just totally guts you.

"I'm caught between what I need and what I want. They're disconnected."

"But, I'll break, if the roads too heavy and the rope's too tight."

All about the feels right now.

I can't keep on losing you...

Dang! Nothing better than listening to a jam that hits from the second you first hear it. Best be sure I'll be groovin' to this the rest of the summer.

"I am a normal human being"

Life totally sucks sometimes. I'm going through one of those "life totally sucks sometimes" moments. And that's ok. Those are the kind of moments that make me feel human. They also remind me of what I'm doing... and why I'm doing it. Until then... I'M FINE THANKS.
